Advanced Energy Systems Principal, Eric Nill was in attendance to help with the unveiling of the facility. Food for Lane County Executive Director Beverlee Hughes got her first chance to see the facility up close. FOOD for Lane County will reap benefits from the system in the form of yearly rent payments from the system developer, and at the end of 10 years, they system will be donated to the non-profit organization.
The energy the system will generate — each year for 25 years after the nonprofit agency takes ownership — will be the equivalent of what it costs to feed 20 people three meals a day, according to FOOD for Lane County.
